As a teacher, surveys can be used to measure the class's opinions towards the end of the year regarding material, teaching methods, field trips, etc. For example, if I was teaching my prospective American History class for high schoolers, I could use Excel to compile a survey and reveal the trends among student responses to how I teach, what I teach, the examples I use, what I could improve, etc.  Looking over my classmates' blogs, I found it interesting how open we are to technology and incorporating it into education. I like this idea as well, but it does scare me a little. My favorite professor of all time hand-wrote his notes, and performed a lecture strictly from memory with insane accuracy and interest. But now, living with smart boards and virtual reality, I'm worried Mr. Fleming's teaching will be edged out, yet, my peers view this as way more of a positive impact on society. The flipped classroom changes the idea of school, and allows technology to come into play more efficiently. This means rather than students learning information traditionally from the teacher, they learn it from online resources outside of class, and then come to school prepared already! This means that already have some background knowledge and come in with questions, and are thus open to deeper learning in the classroom. "Open" educational resources are those that are available to everyone. Adaptive technologies are technologies that adapt to the student with a disability. For example, this could mean closed captioning for those who are hard of hearing, or screen magnifiers for those who are vision-impaired. My dad, with his old age, has had a harder time hearing the television. Due to this, and because the rest of us were tired of having the volume stuck at level 50, we decided to put the closed captions on when he's watching TV. In the classroom, some challenges might include not knowing how to or have the resources to accommodate for all of the children's needs.  At the first level of Bloom's Taxonomy, "remembering", you could use Powerpoint to help students recall definitions of vocabulary words, say for an English class. On Twitter, I have found that it is a great way to interact with other classmates and find news about educational technology. It is a great way to find articles about how to use technology in the classroom, and find other educators themselves. An issue I have been facing so far is coming up with things to tweet and ways to contribute to the #FSUEdTech group. I loved making my own webpage because it was completely at my own discretion. I like designs to be simple with pictures, and not a lot of text, and I got to make my website reflect that. I loved all the options Wix gave me, and how I got to use certain templates, but make them my own. I learned basically all the skills needed to create a webpage, because I have never done so before. I know next time I will maybe make it a little more colorful and interactive, but overall, I can't wait to create a webpage when I have a class of my own. To evaluate class pages on a school website, I went to my own high school's webpage -- Jupiter High School. ( http://www.edline.net/pages/Jupiter_High_School ). Publicly, I am allowed to see most everything on the home page, and even specific pages for students like sports, records, etc. However on those pages, when I went to the click the links about specific things regarding that topic, a login was needed. For example, if I go to Mr. Skeie's AP Human Geography's Assignment's, I can't see any information because I have not logged in.   In my own classroom, I plan on using interactive technology, such as the Smart Boards. Using Smart Boards in the classroom, allows for the students to follow along and interact easily, by just touching the board. I am also able to visualize concepts by adding shapes and using different colors.
